Replace Metacity with Compiz and Fix Window Placement

Compiz has a plugin called “place” that has window-placement options. The option is in GConf. The key is /apps/compiz/plugins/place/screen0/options/mode. The options are

  • 0 = Cascade
  • 1 = Centered
  • 2 = Smart
  • 3 = Maximize
  • 4 = Random
